Sabrina Disch
Prof. Sabrina Disch is Professor of Inorganic Chemistry in the Faculty of Chemistry at the University of Duisburg-Essen.
She received her Ph.D. from Forschungszentrum Jülich / RWTH Aachen in 2010 and subsequently held postdoctoral positions at the University of Oregon (USA) and the Institut Laue-Langevin in Grenoble (France). In 2014, she established an independent research group at the University of Cologne through funding from the prestigious Emmy Noether Programme.
Her research focuses on the relationship between structure and magnetization in functional nanoscale materials, ranging from magnetic nanoparticles to bulk ferromagnets. She is internationally recognised for her expertise in advanced neutron scattering techniques, particularly the use of polarized neutrons to probe magnetic structures across multiple length scales.
Through her work, Prof. Disch has significantly advanced the understanding of spin disorder in magnetic nanoparticles, providing important insights into the magnetic behaviour of nanoscale systems.
Her contributions have been recognised through several distinctions, including the Wolfram Prandl Prize (2020). In 2024, she was elected Vice Chair of the German Committee for Neutron Research.
