Prof. Sabrina Disch is a Professor of Inorganic Chemistry in the Faculty of Chemistry at the University of Duisburg-Essen.
After receiving her Ph.D. degree from Forschungszentrum Jülich / RWTH Aachen (Germany) in 2010, she held postdoctoral positions at the University of Oregon (USA) and the Institut Laue-Langevin, Grenoble (France). In 2014, she established an independent research group at the Universität zu Köln, funded by the Emmy Noether Program.
Her research focuses on structure and magnetization in functional nanoscale materials, ranging from nanoparticles to bulk ferromagnets. She is an expert in advanced neutron scattering techniques, with particular emphasis on polarized neutrons as a probe for spatially and time-resolved information on magnetization over a wide range of length scales.
Her scientific work has significantly enhanced the understanding of spin disorder in magnetic nanoparticles.
She has received several awards, including the Wolfram Prandl Prize (2020), and in 2024 she was elected Vice Chair of the German Committee for Neutron Research.
