Lucía Gutiérrez
Dr. Lucía Gutiérrez is a Scientist at the Instituto de Nanociencia y Materiales de Aragón (INMA), a joint research centre of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) and the University of Zaragoza (UNIZAR).
She obtained her Ph.D. from the University of Zaragoza and has developed an international research career through positions at Queen Mary University of London, the Institute of Materials Science of Madrid (ICMM-CSIC), and the University of Western Australia.
Dr. Gutiérrez is co-founder of the Spanish Nanomedicine Society (SENM) and serves as coordinator of the Nanomedicine Connexion initiative at CSIC.
Her research focuses on magnetic nanoparticles for biomedical applications, including their synthesis, physicochemical characterisation, and interactions with biological systems.
She has co-authored more than 100 scientific publications on topics such as magnetic hyperthermia, nanoparticle biodistribution, nanomaterial degradation, particle detection in complex environments, and the influence of surface chemistry on nanoparticle behaviour.
Her work has provided important insights into the in vitro and in vivo behaviour of magnetic iron oxide nanoparticles, supporting the development of emerging therapeutic and diagnostic technologies, including cancer hyperthermia and advanced imaging techniques.
