Prof. Carlos M. Rinaldi-Ramos is a Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering and in the J. Crayton Pruitt Family Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Florida. He is also an Affiliate Faculty member of the Department of Materials Science and Engineering and a member of the UF Health Cancer Center.
His research focuses on the synthesis and characterization of magnetic nanoparticles for biomedical applications, as well as the study of nanoparticle transport and diffusion in biological fluids.
Current efforts are directed toward the development of tracers for magnetic particle imaging (MPI), an emerging biomedical imaging modality that enables non-invasive, unambiguous, and quantitative imaging of the in vivo distribution of superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticle tracers.
